David Faithfull presnets the Artsist's Book  "WHIRLIGIG" with VAS as aprt of their Common Ground: Living Landscapes exhibition at Kirkcudbright galleries spring 2026

Whirligig was ctreated in reponse to the installation creatde by Faithfull at the Top Shed Residency on Sunday 10th September 2023.

Flints and shells collected from Stiffkey Freshes, North Norfolk and drawing spike carved form Cannel coal whilst on residency.

Whirligig Drawing Machine, based on WW2 Radio-controlled air target launcher at Stiffkey Freshes.

Whirligig launched minature aircraft over the marshes from WW2 Aircraft Gunning Training Camp using circular runway, simulating air combat by replicating guns of a B29 bomber on the ground, shooting at early 'drone' models by trainee flight gunners.

Whirligig Drawing Machine currently pointing towards Ukraine.
